Here’s your chance to live in a perfect location in a perfect home.
Before I moved to Aberdeenshire – and had the pleasure to visit the lovely town of Stonehaven – I remember seeing a painting of its harbour and thinking what an amazing quality of life you must have living in one of the houses along the waterfront.
It’s so tranquil and peaceful, but can also be a hive of activity at certain times of the year. You would also be getting a great view of the annual fireballs display at New Year no doubt.
The bustling and beautiful harbour is one of the many jewels in the coastal town’s crown, along with the beach, Dunnottar Woods and Dunnottar Castle. It has great schools and leisure facilities, including an open air swimming pool, making it a favourite with families. It has a great community feel and there is also lots going on at the town hall.
If, like me, you think Stonehaven would be a great place to live, then I have the perfect home for you to enjoy it from.
One of my favourite buildings in the painting I saw a few years ago was a charming terraced cottage facing on to the harbour; I have now discovered that lovely home is 23 Shorehead. It occupies one of the best spots on the harbour where you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the sea and beyond.

The two-bedroom cottage has many delightful features, traditional and modern, from a combi-boiler augmented by a wood-burning stove and full double glazing to oak flooring and decorative cornicing.
With an abundance of character and charm spread over the three floors, the home has a wonderful sense of space, having been decorated in neutral tones that are engulfed in natural light.
One of my favourite spaces is the lounge and kitchen which are on open-plan basis, which is sure to be the hub of the home. It is a great space to relax, entertain and dine in. The kitchen is fitted with a wide range of shaker oak base wall and drawer units, together with tall cupboards housing the combi-boiler and a separate larder.
Upstairs, you will find the master bedroom that features original wood floors, harbour views, decorative cornicing, a dressing room and an eye-catching wood-burning stove that is set on a slate hearth, while the luxurious bathroom perfectly balances a contemporary suite with more characteristic features such as a feature radiator and wood panelling. It has been upgraded with a striking free-standing bath and walk-in shower cubicle.
With a bay window providing some of the most sought-after views of the harbour, bedroom two enjoys excellent proportions, neutral decor and original wood flooring.
And for those looking for a DIY project, there is something here for you, too: currently, there is full planning permission in place to instal a Velux Cabrio Window to the rear of the property. This would open, creating a balcony area that would not only further engulf the room in natural light but also create a space ideal for relaxing or entertaining.
The house – offers over £279,000 – also comes with an outside shared storage cupboard and unrestricted on-street parking. All items of furniture are also available through separate negotiation.
