Kia is set to reveal its new Picanto city car after showing off a series of design sketches.
The Picanto ranks among Kia’s most popular models, and the forthcoming iteration will be the third since the name was introduced in 2004.
According to the Korean manufacturer, the newcomer will combine “a youthful and energetic exterior and interior design with greater potential for customer personalisation”.
There’s little sign of personalisation options in the sketches Kia has released, although it seems there will be coloured streaks on the bumpers and skirts that may offer scope for buyers to stamp some individuality.
It seems the tiger-nose grille may also be an area for personalisation, but it is thought that the interior will offer the biggest opportunity for customers. The official sketch shows coloured stripes in the door card and swathes of plastic around the gear lever and door handles.
The interior also seems to have seen the biggest change compared with that of the current Picanto. There’s a new steering wheel taken straight from the other models in the range, and there’s a touchscreen infotainment system that stands proud of the dash.
The sketch also shows an automatic transmission gate, suggesting that the model will remain available in two-pedalled form.
