Peugeot has pulled the covers off the latest version of its popular 308, showcasing revised styling and a range of efficient powertrains.
The French manufacturer will offer the 308 as a hatch, an estate – named SW – and as a performance-orientated GTi.
Improved styling helps give the latest 308 a more up-market image, with sleek headlights and a commanding ‘vertical grille’ lending the car much more visual appeal.
Peugeot’s signature i-Cockpit also makes an appearance in the latest 308, which includes a touchscreen, smaller steering wheel, connected 3D satellite navigation and updated graphics.
The 308 will be offered with a selection of petrol and diesel engines, and is the first car in the wider PSA Group – which incorporates Citroen and DS Automobiles – to make use of the new BlueHDi 130 four-cylinder diesel engine.
A more powerful BlueHDi 180 diesel is also available, as is a majorly revised version of Peugeot’s three-cylinder PureTech 130 petrol engine.
The French firm has also built on the old 308’s safety credentials, adding a suite of driver assistance systems to the new vehicle.
These include Active Safety Brake, Active Lane Departure Warning and adaptive cruise control.
The new Peugeot 308 range will be available for UK delivery from September.
