A large crowd turned out yesterday to admire a procession of super cars as they returned to Aberdeen after a charity drive for CLAN.
The seventh Superclan event saw drivers cruising through Aberdeenshire in their luxury sports vehicles before arriving back at the city’s Marcliffe Hotel to show off their sought-after models – which had an estimated collective total in excess of £3million.
More than 100 people milled about the hotel car park admiring the range of Porsches, Ferraris, Bentleys, Aston Martins and the Lamborghini on display as part of the fundraiser for CLAN Cancer Support.
The convoy roared into action on Saturday morning, when the cars headed for the first pit-stop at the Kildrummy Inn, where tea and cakes were laid on courtesy of Jamieson and Carry.
From there, they advanced to Dufftown for a spot of lunch at Glenfiddich Distillery after which they began the home stretch travelling via Rhynie, Keig, Dunecht and Westhill – returning to the Marcliffe at 3.30pm.
Founder of Superclan, Ross Gatt, said they had smashed the previous year’s fundraising total – with organisers already counting more than £10,000.
He added: “I think this is the biggest turnout we have had so far and what an incredible sight seeing so many people waiting for us at the Marcliffe when we came back.
“We are already thinking ahead to next year and have had several requests to include an overnight stop somewhere, followed by a dinner on the final day.
“More and more people are hearing about Superclan and we are attracting participants from all over Scotland.
“We couldn’t have pulled this off without all our sponsors – breakfast was supplied by Aberdein Considine, mid-morning snack by Jamieson and Carry and lunch was provided by Cavitas Energy.”
