As the clouds cleared bright and early on Sunday morning, Aberdeen beach esplanade was a hub of activity as classic cars from around the north-east gathered to take part in National Drive it Day.
Well over 120 vehicles parked up in the sun, ready for the run out to Aden Country Park in Mintlaw.
The event has certainly grown since it began in Aberdeen 12 years ago, where the inaugural run saw just 16 cars take part.
“Since we started in 2006 we have seen numbers increase every year,” said organiser Alan Sharpe.
“The event is open to everyone and we always have a varied selection of interesting vehicles.”
National Drive it Day was started by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs to commemorate the first day of the Thousand Mile Trail – an event which saw 64 cars drive a thousand miles in April 1900. “It was an incredible undertaking for cars 100 years ago and one which deserves an annual celebration,” said Alan.
