Crowds flocked to Stonehaven at the weekend for the Robert William Thomson Memorial Fellowship’s 47th R.W. Thomson Memorial Rally.
The event is held in memory of Thomson, born in Stonehaven, who was the inventor of the pneumatic tyre in 1845. He also held patents for many other items related to steam-driven vehicles. The rally is held annually, close to the inventor’s birthday.
On show was more than 100 entries of vintage and classic cars, motor cycles, commercials, stationary engines and items of interest.
A spokesman for the rally said: “The weather was excellent. The event was well attended and everyone enjoyed a great day out. Our main aim is to keep the name of R.W. Thomson firmly on the map.”
