Yamaha has unveiled a new surprise addition to the rapidly-expanding MT range of character bikes: the MT-09 Street Tracker.
Having derived styling cues from the dirt track scene and mixed it with ‘street scrambler’ attitude, the Japanese firm reckons this might be the meanest of all the MT range.
But it doesn’t come out of the factory looking like this. A series of add-ons are built up onto a standard MT-09 by authorised Yamaha dealers.
It’s fitted with specially-developed high-end components made of high-grade aluminium and carbon fibre – even if the latter is limited to the short front mudguard only.
The matte grey fuel tank comes with new knee grips, while the matte 850cc three-cylinder engine is topped with a bronze-coloured cylinder head. The wheels are a dark bronze, too, which accent the gold-coloured forks.
There’s an option to add a high-level Akrapovic exhaust system. Sited on the right of the MT’s stubby tail, the high-level can offers greater ground clearance for riders serious about lean angles.
And the bad news? The Street Tracker won’t be available in the UK until late August. In the meantime, there’s time to start saving.
