Ducati has finally announced prices for the eagerly-awaited 2015 Scrambler, with Twitter having gone crazy over a starting price of £6,895 on the road.
The surprisingly affordable figure is good news for the many riders who seem to have fallen in love with the bike’s neo-retro styling.
The Scrambler will be made available in four trim versions. First will be Icon, which can be yours in red or yellow; the latter for a £100 premium. Dealers are expecting stock by the end of January 2015.
Then, later in the year will come three more expensive “special” grades: Full Throttle, Urban Enduro and Classic.
The bike uses an 803cc V-twin engine derived from the one in the Monster, tilted forwards enough for Ducati to rename it an “L-twin”, as it does in several of its other bikes.
Pushing out a rumoured 75 horsepower and a very healthy 60lb/ft of torque, the lightweight Scrambler should have lively performance at real-world speeds. It tips the scales at just 186kg with all its fluids on board.
Ducati will also offer “a virtually unlimited range of exclusive personalisation and lifestyle options” made up of bike accessories and clothing.
