Ford’s worst-kept secret has finally been given the official announcement treatment – the firm is to launch an all-new Focus RS complete with all-wheel drive and the promise of more than 320 horsepower.
This launch marks the arrival of Ford’s third hot Focus, and the Blue Oval isn’t holding back in the performance stakes.
Along with a trick all-wheel drive system, this latest RS also boasts a 2.3-litre turbo motor, six-speed manual gearbox and a dramatic exterior styling incorporating a multitude of clever aerodynamic aids.
For now, Ford is remaining coy about the car’s performance figures, but it has revealed a cabin design that’s clearly driver focused. Key details include a flat-bottomed steering wheel and Recaro-branded sports seats.
Complementing the car’s bold exterior design are lightweight 19in wheels and specially developed Michelin tyres.
More details, including pricing, specifications and performance figures, are expected at the car’s public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
