This weekend, the gates will open at the Castle Fraser Steam Fair.
This year’s steam fair, organised by the Bon Accord Steam Engine Club, promises to be one of the best in the club’s 45-year history.
On Saturday and Sunday, a fantastic collection of vintage machinery will be on display in the events field at Castle Fraser.
This year, the vintage fair has been expanded and will include a 1937 set of Chair-o-Planes and a set of Dodgems. These will be accompanied by vintage steam showman’s engines, just like they were in the past.
In an adjacent area, a saw bench, a stone crusher and a thrashing mill will be in operation, powered by steam and vintage tractor power, working away as they would have been at the turn of the 20th century.
In addition to the vintage machinery, there are classic cars and commercial vehicles, tractors and many other items, which will all feature in parades throughout each day.
With the Puppet Gang providing more entertainment for the younger visitors, there is plenty of family entertainment for all ages.
Around the perimeter of the steam fair will be a selection of catering stalls and market stalls, so that visitors can feed their appetites and perhaps leave with a memento of the day.
The annual Bon Accord Steam Fair will take place at Castle Fraser, near Kemnay, on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
