Fancy buying an electric car? Here’s some events you definitely won’t want to miss.
The Electric Carnival will showcase a range of electric vehicles including models such as Audi’s e-Tron and BMW’s i8, along with the Nissan Leaf.
It will roll into the main car parks of towns across Aberdeenshire between 10am and 3pm on dates throughout September and into October:
- Peterhead, Broad Street car park on Sunday, September 13
Westhill, Arnhall Business Park on Thursday, September 17
Aberdeen, Woodhill House, Westburn Road on Friday, September 18
Fraserburgh, Saltoun Square on Sunday, September 20
Huntly, The Square on Sunday, September 27
Ellon, Market Square on Sunday, October 4
Chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s infrastructure services committee, Councillor David Aitchison, said: “This is a really exciting time for sustainable transport.
“As well as realising that walking and cycling for short journeys, car sharing, and using public transport for their daily commutes can be very enjoyable, people are beginning to recognise the advantages of low-emission vehicles.
“Aberdeenshire Council is already supporting this emerging technology by working in partnership with Transport Scotland to provide a charging network for plug-in cars.”
Vice-chairman of the committee, Cllr Stephen Smith, added: “By the end of autumn 2015, there will be a charging point in 11 of our key towns and the council’s fleet is already using a number of electric vans.
“The Electric Carnival will give residents an opportunity to find out more about electric cars in a fun and family-friendly environment so please do come along when it rolls into a town
near you.”
