A Skye hotel recently used by rapper Kanye West while filming in Scotland has been named the best island hotel in the country.
Skeabost House near Portree in Skye won the prize at the Scottish Hotel Awards in Edinburgh.
West and his entourage stayed at the hotel while filming a music video for new single Waves.
Skeabost was acquired last year by Anne Gracie and Ken Gunn, who own two other hotels on the island.
‘Superior Plus’ rooms, the most luxury accommodation available at Skeabost House, range from between £110 and £155 per person per night.
Ms Gracie said: “There are many marvellous hotels throughout the islands of Scotland, so being voted the best of them is a big honour.”
West’s Skye visit caused a stir after a local newspaper mentioned it in just a few paragraphs on page 16 with the headline: “American man visits Skye…”
Journalist Keith MacKenzie told the BBC the tongue-in-cheek article had generated quite a bit of attention and he thought it would be “a bit of a laugh” to put West “next to a story about a kayaker rescuing some sheep”.
