It’s Wednesday, it’s halfway to the weekend, and that can only mean one thing – pub o’clock is imminent.
Last week’s collection of Aberdeen pubs and clubs from the 80s only scraped the surface of past watering holes, and so a sequel was more than apt.
From Ruffels to Studio 30, here’s seven more pubs you went to in the 80s that aren’t there anymore.
1) Churchills, Crown Street
Churchills pulled its first pint in the early 80s and served as a popular Friday night hang-out.
2) Ruffels, Diamond Street
Ruffels Silhouette Bar featured portraits Twiggy, Marilyn Monroe for punters to admire while enjoying their drink.
3) Joey Harper’s, Union Street
A spilt-level bar with a more intimate atmosphere than most, Joey Harper’s is much-missed.
4) Harriet Street Bar, Harriet Street
A pub that was perfect for the just-finished-work pint.
5) Studio 30, Bridge Street
We’d like to think Studio 30 was the Aberdeen equivalent of New York City’s Studio 54.
6) Nile Wine Bar, Union Street
Manager Nick Spencer welcomes customers to the Nile Wine Bar.
7) Cupids, Union Street
Cupids Bar and Diner took on a ‘cherubic love god’ theme and brought something pleasingly different to the city centre.
