Are you looking for a cute companion to help brighten your day?
Look no further than the Scottish SPCA’s Drumoak rehoming centre.
The SSPCA’s north-east base is purpose-built to care for a whole host of domestic animals, but the centre can only do so much and these animals are lying in wait to find their forever homes.
Hundreds of animals are rehomed from Drumoak each year, with creatures from cats and dogs, to ferrets and snakes just waiting to find a family of their very own.
Why not take a look at this week’s future pets Archie, Cookie Monster and Joey – plus friends!
Archie
Archie is an independent soul looking for a family who can help nurture his free-spirited ways.
He is a former stray who picked up a few war wounds along the way, but since arriving at Drumoak he has learned to appreciate curling up on a big comfy blanket. Sometimes he will greet you with a hiss but he will quickly change his tune when he realises he enjoys being stroked – often head bumping you and purring for more.
If you’re looking for the way to his heart, food is your answer. Archie is first in line to be fed and will always clear his bowl. He has a special diet to keep his joints in good condition.
Archie is a cat who knows what he wants and as such is looking for a family who will let him come and go as he pleases.
An adult-only home, or one with older children, would be best to meet his needs – along with a cat flap so he can resume his adventures when he’s settled.

Cookie Monster
Royal python Cookie Monster is looking for a new home and an owner who is prepared to meet their energy.
Inquisitive and keen to explore, Cookie Monster would very much appreciate an owner who is happy to encourage their curiosity. A suitably large vivarium would also be needed, along with plenty of enrichment for those times when they can’t be out and about.
Cookie Monster is also after a new home with good knowledge, or experience, of owning reptiles.

Joey and friends
From two independent spirits to this colony of young rabbits, Joey and friends are also in need of loving forever homes.
Initially nervous, these bunnies have grown in confidence at Drumoak. They enjoy exploring their surroundings and are known to cause mischief.
A playful colony, each rabbit has their own individual personality which soon shines through and after a hard day of fun, they enjoy nothing more than tucking into a fresh salad before snuggling in for a snooze.
It would be best for Joey and his siblings if they were rehomed in pairs or as companions to other rabbits. These bunnies could live either indoors or outside but are in need plenty of space to exercise, with toys and tunnels to keep them active and entertained.
They will make a great addition to any family, though if introducing them to the outdoors new families must ensure these loveable young rabbits are slowly acclimatised during the colder months.
