Every week we are going to take the chance to meet some of the cutest and most loving animals on the hunt for new homes in Scotland.
The Scottish SPCA cares for hundreds of animals across the country, including at their Aberdeenshire centre, in Banchory.
We’ve teamed up with the SPCA and here are some of the most adorable animals looking to be re-homed.
If you are interested in rehoming any of the pets below, call the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999 or visit the Aberdeenshire centre, located in Drumoak, Banchory AB31 5AJ.
Name: Paris
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Paris is a highly energetic young dog who came into our care following a series of unfortunate circumstances for which she holds no blame. She is a lively and extremely friendly young girl who just needs lots of love and stability.
Paris is bursting with energy and excitement. She loves to play with toys, particularly tennis balls and will respond impeccably to commands once you gain her attention.
However, Paris is not for the novice dog owner.
Due to her somewhat confused past, Paris has unfortunately suffered from a lack of training and she often becomes frustrated and excitable as she sadly does not fully understand what is expected of her.
Paris needs someone who will provide her with plenty of patient training and is fully prepared to help her through the difficulties she is currently struggling with.
Although she still has a little distance to travel, if Paris finds that special someone who will shower her with the love and stability she needs, that someone will have gained a loyal and loving companion.
Paris would be best suited to a home with no young children or small animals and would be happiest being the only dog in the home.
Name: Sasha
Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd
Beautiful Sasha really is a special girl. Her loyal nature and loving personality makes her such a great companion.
In her short time with us we have come to realise she can be anxious at times and any potential owners will need to guide her and reassure her when she is feeling nervous.
Sasha responds well to positive training and is starting to overcome her fear of the vet. This positive training would benefit Sasha if continued in her new home.
Sasha would prefer to live in a home with no children but may possibly enjoy living with another doggy companion. This would depend on a successful introduction at the centre.
Name: Bella
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Bella was brought into the centre as her owner could no longer care for her.
She is a new arrival with us so we are still getting to know her. She is still a little timid at the moment but in the right environment she will flourish.
We are looking for a quiet home for Bella and although she has previously lived with another cat, they started to bicker so we think she would prefer the company of humans only.
Bella has been used to being an indoor cat but might enjoy a wander outside once she gets comfortable and used to her new surroundings.
Name: Rodney
Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Crossbreed
Rodney is a lovely male rabbit who came into our care as his owner could no longer look after him.
Since coming in he has been a model resident. Although he does not like to be picked up, he tolerates it very well, never making a fuss.
Our one worry with Rodney is that sometimes he seems a little too well behaved and we feel he needs a bit more fun in his life!
Ideally we’re hoping to find him an outdoor home with plenty of distractions and entertainment to encourage him to come out of his shell a bit and play.
He has lived with rabbits in the past and a bit of company would be really good for him too.
Name: Trevor
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Breed: Ferret
Trevor is a young, excitable boy who came into our care as a stray whose owner sadly never came forward.
We are still getting to know him but he loves to play and discover his surroundings. So far he seems to have a good temperament and has no problem being handled.
At the moment we are unsure whether Trevor would get along with other ferrets so a controlled introduction would be advised.
He would enjoy a home where he can have lots of attention and room to explore.
Name: Poppet
Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Hackney
Poppet is a lovely 3-year-old who came into our care through no fault of her own.
When Poppet first arrived she was very nervous due to a lack of handling previously. However she has come on leaps and bounds and her confidence has improved hugely.
Poppet has the potential to be a lovely pony for someone who has the time to give to her. She has shown she is a quick learner and once she knows you want to be her friend, she soon wants to become yours too.
She still needs some work in building her confidence with the farrier but we believe with some time and patience she will improve.
Name: Nibbles and Munch
Age: 1-2 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Guinea Pig
Nibbles and Munch are two male guinea pigs who are looking to be rehomed together as they are a bonded pair.
Nibbles and Munch haven’t been in our care long and are still a bit timid so we think they will like a quiet home. Once they get to know you and with more handling they will make lovely companions.
As they are to be rehomed together they will need quite a large cage to stretch their legs in.
Name: Tina
Age: 4-5 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Terrapin
Tina is quite a chilled terrapin who enjoys basking under her heat lamp watching the world go by.
She can become quite restless if handled so an experienced owner will be better for her.
Tina loves nothing more than to chomp on prawns and mussels as well as her own complete diet.
As she is a large terrapin she will need a tank big enough for basking and swimming around.
Although Tina is on her own at the moment, she could possibly share with another terrapin if introduced properly.
Name: Billy
Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Billy hasn’t been in our care long so we are still getting to know him.
He’s finding his new surroundings a bit overwhelming so spends most of the day hiding. We think with plenty of time and lots of reassurance he will begin to see we’re not such a bad bunch after all.
We are looking for a quiet home without children. He has previously been kept as an indoor cat but he may also enjoy the opportunity to go outside.
