Some of us dream of jetting off to sunnier climates at this time of year to escape the wintry weather but if snow is your thing, then this winter you could be heading to some of Europe’s best ski resorts for some serious alpine action.
I’m going to try skiing for the first time this year, having managed to avoid this pastime all my life. My friends are all fairly competent on the slopes and I’ll be left to join the kids’ classes but hey, there’s always the après ski to look forward to and as a lover of mountain views, I know that I will lap up the scenery even if I don’t quite manage the black runs!
If, like me, you don’t want to spend all week in ski boots, there’s still plenty of nice things to do away from the slopes. You can leave your family to it and head off into the nearby towns or villages and enjoy the ambiance of these winter wonderlands.
There’s such a vast choice of winter sport destinations these days and for the first timer, it might be hard to choose where to go. Our friends at talkholiday the social travel network have some amazing trips and deals, which include some of the top ten ski resorts for 2016-2017.
Skiing can often be a pricey affair but there are also great value deals to be had for families too. Why not make it a Christmas surprise for you and yours and head for the slopes? That would be a holiday to remember!
