It’s the no frills bus famous for getting you across the country for as little as £1.
But now Megabus.com has announced it is expanding its reach to France, Belgium, Holland and Spain.
New routes launched by the firm today means travellers in Aberdeen, Aviemore and Inverness can head to Paris, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Brussels or Barcelona for just £2.69, including booking fees.
But only if they can tolerate up to 40 hours on a coach.
Elizabeth Esnouf, Managing Director of Megabus.com, which is owned by Stagecoach, said: “Barcelona is already the third most visited city in Europe and has a wonderful array of sights and attractions for tourists to enjoy.
“This new service will make it even easier, and more affordable, for people to visit.
“It will also open up a valuable new transport link for the 5 million people in the Barcelona metropolitan area to access other parts of Europe.
“Our innovative coach service has transformed travel in Europe and North America, providing new and affordable travel options as well as creating new jobs. We are delighted to bring our well-recognised brand of high quality travel to Spain.
“We have already had strong bookings between Barcelona and Paris, as well as to Toulouse, and we and look forward to welcoming local people on board.”
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach confirmed that £1.50 tickets are available for Aberdeen/Inverness/Aviemore to London, and the 1euro 50cent tickets are on offer from London to the European destinations, but only at certain times.
