A virtual tour of Fort William will bring a touch of Highland humour to its past and present.
Local double act, Bill Cameron and Ian Abernethy, will take you on a historical tour of the town, with plenty of little known tales and anecdotes thrown in.
Included in ‘Fort William Then and Now’ will be vintage film footage of Henry Alexander’s historic ascent of Ben Nevis in a Model T Ford in 1911, the 5th Cameron Highlanders parading in Cameron Square in 1921, the Queen’s visit to the town in 1958, when a surprising lack of protocol occurred, and coverage of the 1962 Ben Race.
The tour will take place tonight at the West End Hotel beginning at 7.30pm. The admission charge covers tea, coffee and cakes at the interval and a share of the proceeds will be donated to local charities.
