An incredibly rare fogbow has been photographed at Loch Baa on Rannoch Moor.
The fogbow was captured by amateur photographer Sylvan Buckley from Saltcoats, Ayrshire. The keen snapper spent a night in the frosty Highlands waiting for the sun to rise.
He was left speechless on December 10 when he spotted the fogbow forming beside Loch Baa. The rare phenomenon, unlike a rainbow, shows a white bow shape through fog.
Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said: “They are spectacular. A fogbow is similar to a rainbow except that it is formed with the water droplets in fog or mist. It is much paler than a traditional rainbow because it is formed in fog or mist rather than in a rain cloud as you would get in a traditional rainbow.”
