A leading Scottish Episcopalian clergyman has spoken of his “deepest sorrow” over the tragedy at Aberdeen beach.
In an early morning message to his churches, The Right Reverend Dr Robert Gillies, Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney, said he was filled with sadness for those families bereaved and injured in the tragic accident.
Bishop Gillies said: “My prayers and my deepest sorrow and sadness are with those families who have lost loved ones as well as with those who have suffered injury at the tragic accidents on our city’s beach late on Saturday afternoon.
“In our darkest times God remains with us and walks the way of grief and pain alongside those in deep despair.”
