Local coastguard and lifeboat teams assisted in the incident, which occurred at around 2.40am. A UK Coastguard spokesman said they had received a call from the police asking for assistance for a person who was under the bridge. He added: “He was recovered and handed over to the police.” It is understood the man had been threatening to jump when he fell over. The man, who is in his 30s, was removed from the water to safety however he declined any assistance from emergency services. He had no medical concerns and was taken home.
