Four people have been charged following two drug busts in the north-east.

Two men aged 33 and 37 and a 36-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the recovery of heroin with a ‘street’ value of around £2,000 in the Constitution Street area of Aberdeen on Monday, August 29.

They are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today. The woman and the 37-year-old man are from Aberdeen, while the 33-year-old is from the Liverpool area.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man from Wolverhampton has also been charged following the recovery of a small quantity of cannabis and a four-figure sum in cash from within a Mercedes vehicle travelling on the A90 near Laurencekirk on Sunday, August 28.

The recovery followed an intelligence-led operation, and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

Detective Inspector Stewart Drummond said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who provided information in connection with these inquiries.

He added: “Illegal activity involving drugs is not wanted in our communities and we are committed to making the area a hostile environment for those who choose to involve themselves in this type of unwanted behaviour.

“Targeting serious organised crime involving drugs is a priority for the Division to ensure the North East remains one of the safest places to live and work. I would urge anyone with concerns about drugs in their communities to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers if you would prefer to remain anonymous on 0800 555111.”
