Construction worker banned after being caught drink-driving

A young construction worker from Romania has been banned from driving for a year after he admitted having twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood when stopped by police in Shetland in early hours of Sunday.
Nelu Nicusor Lupu, from Ringlands, Paisley, was also fined £450 when he appeared from custody at Lerwick sheriff Court on Monday.
The 22-year-old had been in Shetland for work during the week, the court heard.
Lupu pled guilty to a charge of driving a van at Commercial Street, Lerwick, with 47 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22micrograms.
