An island choir has won big in only its second attempt at the Royal National Mod. Isle of Barra Gaelic Choir conductor Lisa MacNeil admits the island is not known for its choral tradition. But yesterday the relatively recently-formed choir beat all-comers to win the coveted Lorn Shield in the rural singing groups competitions. A group of enthusiasts brought the choir to life and they showed a hint of the promise to come by coming third in the same compeition last year. Ms MacNeil said: “I’m delighted, they were absolutely brilliant. “They must have been doing their homework.”
