One of the biggest cheers during the iPhone 7 event this year came when Apple revealed Super Mario was coming to iOS.
Super Mario Run, the first ever mobile game to feature Mario, was unveiled – and now its launch date has been confirmed: December 15.
The game will run on both iPhone and iPad and will be free to download initially, however players will need to make a one-time payment of £7.99 in order to unlock the full game.
The price instantly split fans.
The so-called “freemium” mode for games, where they are free to initially play but then ask users to pay for some features, has long been a polarising issues – particularly among mobile gamers.
The launch will, however, crown a big year of mobile games for Nintendo and its franchises, after Pokemon Go quickly became one of the stories of the year following the frenzy it created upon its launch in the summer.
Incidentally, Pokemon Go is due to make its way to the Apple Watch in the near future too.
