A town centre Christmas tree which had been slammed for being the worst-looking in the country has been redecorated after Shetlanders complained about its appearance.
Local business group Living Lerwick erected the tree last weekend, only for islanders to take to social media to describe it as a “godless eyesore”.
The organisation explained last week that it had a limited amount of time to decorate the tree first time around in time for a pre-Christmas town centre parade and light switch-on.
The 25ft Norwegian tree has been erected at the Market Cross and it originally featured loops of bright lights running vertically instead of being wrapped horizontally.
Living Lerwick said it hadn’t been decorated properly the first time around because staff were diverted to deal with failures on the street Christmas lights.
