Did you know you can now save web pages for offline viewing on Google Chrome?

The newest version of Google Chrome for Android is popping up on the Google Play Store – complete with the ability to download web pages for offline viewing.

The browser is a dramatic update in usability for Chrome, as mobile users will now be able to download pages while they have an internet connection – as well as images, video and music – and then enjoy it even after signal drops.

These downloads can also be saved and shared with other users.

The features were first announced in September as part of a data-saving scheme aimed at the Indian market but are now rolling out more widely, no doubt to the delight of users who want to pass time on their commute.

Earlier this year Chrome broke through the billion monthly user threshold, a major milestone for the web browser. It has also replaced Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as the most popular browser in the world as both both mobile and desktop.
