The pop star, who launched his career with Wham in the 1980s, died at home.
The popular singer, most famous for Careless Whisper, Last Christmas, Faith and more, sold more than 100 million albums throughout a career that lasted almost 40 years.
Thames Valley Police attended Mr Michael’s property at around 1.45pm this afternoon.
Officers have confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
A statement from Mr Michael’s publicist said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.”
