A man accused of carrying out a serious assault has been banned from the Western Isles.
Brian McEwan, of Pollock in Glasgow, made no plea or declaration when his case called in private at Stornoway Sheriff Court yesterday.
The 32-year-old appeared from custody to face a charge of allegedly severely assaulting another male on Sunday morning in the Point Street area of Stornoway town centre.
Sheriff David Sutherland released him on bail on the strict condition he does not enter the Outer Hebrides with the exception of attending court.
The case was continued for further examination.
