What makes someone proud to be from Aberdeen?
That is the question TSB has been asking locals, with some surprising results.
Here are a list of the results:
1) Duthie Park
When asked what landmarks make them most proud, the historic Duthie Park came out on top with nearly half of the votes.
The 44-acre site was donated to the city by Elizabeth Duthie in 1880 and opened as a park in 1883.
2) St. Machar’s Cathedral
In second place for the favourite landmarks was this Old Aberdeen establishment with 41%.
3) King’s College Chapel
And in third place was this world famous landmark, which is a great example of late Gothic architecture.
It has the largest fan vault in the world and some of the greatest medieval stained glass.
4) Annie Lennox
A city is more than just its landmarks. When asked about which famous Aberdonian makes them proud to be from Aberdeen, Annie Lennox topped the list with nearly half (46%) of people saying she is the ultimate Aberdonian.
5) Robert Gordon
The musician was closely followed by philanthropist Robert Gordon with 36% of the vote
6) Emeli Sandé
The Alford star is the top Aberdeen for more than a quarter of the people the bank asked.
7) The Marcliffe
For their favourite places to eat, The Marcliffe is the best for one in six of the people surveyed.
8) Silver Darling
The Aberdeen hotel was closed followed by Silver Darling, voted for by 14% of the people asked.
9) The people
Over half of residents feel that the down-to-earth nature of people in Aberdeen is what makes them proud to be local, while nearly half (48%) say it’s their hardworking nature. Over two-in-five (42%) love the Aberdonian sense of humour.
