An armed forces charity has launched an appeal for new volunteers in Orkney.
The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) is seeking volunteer caseworkers who would help support members of the armed forces community in the islands.
The island branch of the charity is based in Kirkwall.
Volunteers help visit veterans at home, suppport them with issues such as mobility and offer advice on various issues.
Sue Pillar, SSAFA director of volunteer operations said: “SSAFA predicts that the welfare needs of the Armed Forces community in Orkney will continue to rise. World War Two veterans are now well into their 90s and the impact of conflicts such as the Falklands, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan on our younger veterans and their families continue to reveal themselves.”
