A TV producer was caught speeding at 85mph after running late for a ferry after the Royal National Mòd in October. Police stopped Donald Macleod as he raced along the 60mph zone three miles outside Stornoway. Macleod, of Jordanhill, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to speeding on the Bràighe causeway between Point and Stornoway on October 23. His lawyer, Angus Macdonald explained he was “home” on Lewis for the Mòd and was “on his way to catch a ferry.” Sheriff David Sutherland fined the broadcaster – who did not appear in court – £200 and imposed four penalty points on his licence.
