Allan Brown, 67, came across the unusual sight while he was out looking for mountain hares on the weekend. He was taking pictures near Glenshee, Perthshire, when he spotted the red deer scattered across the snow-covered glen. The pensioner, from Kirkcaldy, Fife, said: “I went up to get pictures of mountain hare. It looked like a nice day for it but I couldn’t see any. “But then I spotted stag on the side of the hill. It was so cold in the windchill that they had come down to get some shelter. “I would say there were about 150 and a smaller group further down of about 30 or 40. “I think that is about the most I’ve seen in one spot. I just had to take a picture. I was just amazed to see so many. “At first, I thought it was a few stags and hinds. But then I realised there were no females there at all. That kind of shocked me. “It was like a jigsaw puzzle. A few people said it would look great on a tea towel or as a wallpaper.”
