Police have appealed for help following a blaze that destroyed a storage area at an Aberdeen sports facility.
The fire was discovered at the Grandholm Bowling Club in Bridge of Don in the early evening of Monday, February 27 at around 4:45pm.
Inspector Gary Spark of the Bridge of Don community policing team has encouraged anyone to come forward if they have information about how the fire started.
The fire completely destroyed the storage area at the rear of the building and the clubhouse was also broken into where a number of items within were vandalised.
Investigating officer constable Heather Taylor said: “From inquiries it would appear that the fire was deliberately set at the rear of the building, destroying a storage area. The Clubhouse was also entered and there was damage to various items within.
“It goes without saying that the deliberate starting of fires is completely unacceptable and creates an obvious risk to those setting the fire as well as to residents or businesses in nearby buildings.”
Bridge of Don Community Policing Inspector Gary Spark said: “This incident could have had far more serious consequences and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible. If anyone saw or knows anything about this incident I would urge them to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
