Man’s best friends – and their owners – will be taught how to be community-spirited at the inaugural “Dog Friendly Cove” event on Saturday.
Lessons will be given on behaviour and socialisation, and will be led by a local dog trainer.
Organisers want the session to bring together dog owners in Cove.
Michelle McPartlin, chair of Cove community council, said: “It’s to try and get everybody who owns a dog to know one another when they meet on the street.
“You move around and you know the dog’s names, but you don’t know the people’s names.”
One problem which is likely to be raised is the issue of dog fouling, and the organisers are encouraging people to use bins provided by the local authority.
Mrs McPartlin said: “There are enough dog bins in Cove. It’s just about educating people to use them.”
Owners will have the chance to talk about any issues they might be experiencing with vets and other canine enthusiasts.
There will be opportunities to purchase food supplies, and doggy bags, filled with treats, will be distributed.
The event will take place at the Loirston Annexe on Saturday at 1pm.
