The French man reported he was injured while about 100 miles west of Sumburgh. The coastguard helicopter was tasked to go and retrieve the man at around 9.50am. He was collected and airlifted back to Tingwall Airport before being taken by ambulance to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick at approximately 1pm.
