Five Orkney businesses will fly the flag for the islands at Scotland’s biggest travel trade event this week.
Northlink Ferries, The Ferry Inn and The Shore, Pentland Ferries, Orkney Tourism Group and The Albert Hotel will promote Orkney at VisitScotland Expo, which begins in Glasgow tomorrow.
Barbara Foulkes, VisitScotland islands manager, said: “I am delighted that these businesses from Orkney will be joining the many others from across Scotland that will be attending VisitScotland Expo to showcase what these fantastic islands have to offer.
“Tourism is more than a holiday experience – it creates jobs, sustains communities and provides a shop window for business activity.”
Cameron Taylor, executive director of Orkney Tourism Group, said: “Orkney traditionally attracts an above average level of interest at the Expo and this year looks as if it will break previous records in terms of the number of appointments our team has lined up.
“That’s great news, but we’ll still be working very hard to tell the story about what makes Orkney unique as a destination.
“Part of that process will be sharing sample itineraries with tourism operators and highlighting just how easy it is to include Orkney into a Scottish tour, or tailor make a stand-alone package for the islands.”
