Volunteers from a north-east lifeboat have announced plans to host an open day in Fraserburgh next month.
The crew from the town’s Trent Class lifeboat Willie and May Gall are inviting local families to join them at the station on June 3.
A spokesman for the crew said: “Fraserburgh Lifeboat Station Open Day will kick off with Fraserburgh’s Royal British Legion Pipe Band parading through the town centre and then with two rockets fired to signal the start.
“Come along and see aboard Fraserburgh’s Trent-class lifeboat, meet the crew, hear about the rescues they have taken part in and ask for any advice.”
A host of food and drink – including a barbecue, ice cream and strawberries, tea and coffee and homebakes – as well as stall such as hook-a-duck and face painting will be on offer for visitors.
There will also be live music from local band Howling Gale.
The spokesman added: “Come along and support your local lifeboat station. We will look forward to seeing you all.”
Last week lifeboat coxswain Victor Sutherland appealed to beachgoers to play responsibly during the summer months, and to never be afraid to ask for advice.
Mr Sutherland said his door was always open to answer questions about beach and water safety.
The Fraserburgh Lifeboat Open Day will take place between 11am and 3.30pm on Saturday, June 3 at the station on Shore Road. All are welcome.
