Friends of Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool are holding a fundraising evening this weekend before the facility opens for the summer on May 27.
The group is hosting a race night on Saturday at 7pm at Stonehaven Bowling Club, with tickets priced at £5 – which includes a stovie supper.
Chairman of the organisation, Pete Hill, explained why his members had decided to arrange the event.
He said: “Our volunteer workers have been busy since the pool closed last September, repairing, renewing, scrubbing and painting to make sure everything looks its best for 2017.
“But we got a nasty shock when we discovered that only one of the thermal pool covers could be repaired.
“Both covers were badly damaged at the end of last season by high winds, but it’s only in recent weeks we have found out one needs to be replaced.
“Suddenly, we need to find additional funds to ensure these covers are up to their task of retaining heat and also keeping debris out of the pool during the hours it is closed.”
Tickets for the race night can be purchased from Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool’s secretary Wendy Rudd who is available on 01569 765547.
