Politics Daily Briefing: Corbyn would “open discussions” on indyref2, Gove’s message to fishermen, SNP launch anti-austerity manifesto

One week after the tragedy in Manchester delayed their General Election manifesto launch, the SNP have announced their proposals for Scotland.

Among the pledges is a promise of £118billion to public services, a new Scottish immigration policy, a £10 minimum wage by the end of the parliament and a rise to income tax.

However, if Scots choose to back the manifesto and send a strong team of SNP MPs to Westminster, Prime Minister Theresa May has warned they could be used to create a “government in chaos” with Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour.

Elsewhere, Michael Gove has been speaking to fishermen in Peterhead and the Greens are calling for a renewable energy revolution.

PM: Labour-SNP sweetheart deal could lead to ‘government in chaos’

Battle for Number 10: Corbyn gives more assured performance as May squirms under pressure

Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn have faced off against one of their toughest election challenges yet in a televised interview and answers session dubbed the ‘Battle for Number 10’.

The Labour leader came off the better of the two, giving a more assured performance during the audience question and answer section and looking confident in an awkward interview exchange with veteran broadcaster Jeremy Paxman.

Mrs May, at times, appeared to crack under the pressure, visibly squirming when heckled by members of the audience over her record on school funding, education and the health service.
