It’s been three hours since the first exit poll predicted Tories will take the most seats, but not a majority.
And since then, inside sources have been speculating what the results will show. Here’s a round-up of the thoughts and predictions for the Scottish constituencies:
- Conservative sources say the vote is too close to call in Aberdeen South but the SNP may retain the seat.
- Speaking directly to the P&J, Conservative sources predict Angus Robertson is set to lose his Moray seat.
- Former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond is at risk of losing his seat in Gordon, Tory sources say.
- Scottish Labour believes the party is “in the game” in Glasgow’s South West and North East constituencies, seats where the SNP has over 9,000-strong majorities. The SNP conceded votes may have been lost to Labour in Glasgow but was confident of holding on to its seven seats.
- SNP sources say the Tories are not doing too well in East Dunbartonshire. But they admit “there’s still a lot of boxes to count” while Lib Dem sources claim the party is set to gain Dunbartonshire East from the SNP.
- Scottish Labour source says the party is “confident” in Edinburgh South and East Lothian.
