A 34-year-old German tourist was stretchered by rescuers for two miles off a mountain on Skye.
The tourist, who was with his wife and friend, badly dislocated his left knee after falling at 2,200 feet up on Coire a Bhasteir in the northern Cuillin range.
In total 19 members of Skye Mountain Rescue Team were called out at 5.30pm on Monday. Teams of six took it in turns to carry the injured man on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
The faller was taken to the Dr MacKinnon Memorial Hospital at Broadford on the island. His condition is unknown.
Skye MRT leader Gerry Ackroyd said the rescue took over three hours.
“His knee was badly dislocated and we had to carry him off on a stretcher with teams of six in relay,” he said. “The chap had slipped and fallen coming down from a day on the hill and ended up with quite a bad leg injury.”
