A motorcyclist killed in a crash with a pickup truck in Shetland has been named.
Robert Gidney, 60, of Sandness, was travelled on the B9071 at East Burrafirth, near Aith at around 5pm on Monday when the vehicles collided.
The incident involved a red Honda CBF 125 motorbike and a black Mitsubishi Trojan truck.
Mr Gidney was taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick for treatment but later died from his injuries.
The male driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
Speaking on Tuesday, Sergeant Donald MacKinnon said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very said time.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time in question and saw either vehicle to please get in touch on 101 as we establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
