A farm which supports people with learning disabilities has received a £2,600 funding boost from a local rotary club.
Easter Anguston Farm in Culter, operated by VSA, offers individualised training placements for adults with additional support needs.
Hundreds of people attended the annual Rotary Club of Deeside Charity Art Event at the Marcliffe Hotel in April and raised £5,200 for three groups – with the VSA Easter Anguston facility receiving £2,600, £1,300 to War Child and the remaining to other rotarian charities.
Neil Robertson, social enterprise development manager for VSA at Easter Anguston, said: “We will be putting the money towards some new small pet areas for guinea pigs and rabbits and will also help install our new pedal track for sit-on tractors.
“Donations like this are vital for our future.”
In celebrating its 14th anniversary, the art event this year welcomed back local painter Michael Samson who created a large landscape of ‘The Cuillins’ in front of the gathered audience.
The painting was then auctioned off at the end of the evening.
The president of the Rotary Club, Brian Stephen, stated that VSA Easter Anguston was a charity “dear to the heart” of the members.
He added: “We have helped in many aspects over the years from planting strawberries to buying a goat herd – it is a great charity and a great community asset.”
VSA Easter Anguston is holding its annual Strawberry Fayre this weekend on Saturday, June 24 between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
Entry is free, but donations are appreciated.
