Police have confirmed that a 39-year-old man died at Kirkwall Habour in Orkney at the weekend.
No name has been released, however it is understood that the man was a Polish national and was part of a group of visitors who had hired a yacht.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 39 year old man died at Kirkwall Harbour on Saturday June 24.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The coastguard retrieved the man after the alarm was raised in Orkney at 8.10am on Sunday, police said.
It is understood the body was recovered by a member of the public.
Kirwall-based Councillor David Dawson said: “It is a tragedy. It is such a shame that someone has come here on holiday and died in such tragic circumstances. Our thoughts are with his family.”
