Excitement is building among the Tartan Army in Ljubljana as they prepare to cheer on Scotland against Slovenia tonight.
Gordon Strachan’s side need a win to guarantee second place in the qualifying group behind winners England, who sealed their place in the World Cup finals in Russia next summer with a 1-0 win against Slovenia at Wembley on Thursday.
Scottish supporters have travelled in their thousands to Slovenia and they look set to be fill 16,000 capacity stadium tonight.
The Scots were allocated just 2,567 tickets by the Slovenian FA for the game but more than 5,000 have travelled and with interest from the hosts in the game having waned following their defeat to England, tickets are being sold for the game to Scottish supporters who have made the trip without a ticket.
Following Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 4-3 loss to Belgium yesterday Scotland know they will qualify for the play-offs with a win today. The big game kicks off at 5pm.
The eight best runners-up in the nine European groups will go into the draw for the two-legged play-offs. The draw will be made on October 17 with the matches scheduled to be played between November 6 and 14.
