Police in Orkney are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was injured in a collision with a parked car in Kirkwall.
The incident happened on Palace Road in the town at about 10.10am on Thursday.
The 25-year-old male cyclist suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries which have required treatment at Kirkwall’s Balfour Hospital.
The collision involved the bicycle and a parked Volvo V70 car.
Officers in Kirkwall are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them.
Sergeant Kenneth Walker said: “We are working to establish the circumstances and I would urge anyone with information which could help contacts us as soon as they can.
“While the car involved was not parked in a dangerous position, it is also an opportunity to remind people to be considerate of other road users when they are leaving their vehicle.
“It is important that all road users show due care and consideration for other road users and do not allow their vehicle to obstruct the road.
“We would urge members of the public to report incidents of obstruction at the time of the offence so that officers can take the necessary action.”
