A former island councillor is facing charges of sexual offences.
Donald John MacRae, 46, served as a councillor for the Harris and South Lochs ward from 2012 till last year and worked concurrently as a taxi driver in Stornoway.
A police spokesman said: “A 46-year-old man has been charged in connection with alleged sexual offences on the Isle of Lewis and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Mr MacRae was elected as a Labour councillor back in 2012 with 69 votes. He stood again last year but was unsuccessful.
He also competed in the final of the Traditional Medal at the Royal National Mod in Stornoway in 2016.
