Coastline searches for a missing Applecross fisherman will continue over the weekend.
An air and sea search was called off earlier this week for 57-year-old Alasdair MacLeod.
Police in Skye and Lochalsh said last night they are continuing to carry out inquiries following the disappearance of the popular fisherman.
Extensive search activity has been carried out since his boat, the Varuna, was discovered on rocks north of Applecross Bay on Monday, at around 2.30pm, with its engine still running.
It is believed he was the only one on board and had been fishing for prawns in the area.
Searches involved the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter, lifeboats, local fishing vessels, coastal search teams, and volunteers.
The initial search was hampered by poor conditions, including mist, which left search teams with only half a mile visibility.
Inspector Andrew Shaw said: “Unfortunately, despite extensive search efforts over the course of the week, we haven’t yet located Mr Macleod.
“We are very grateful for the assistance from partner agencies and members of the local community for their support with the search.”
HM Coastguard and RNLI volunteers stood down on Thursday following days of frantic searching for the fisherman.
Despite the official search being called off, shoreline searches will continue to take place, involving locals who knew the married father.
He is believed to have been wearing orange oilskins and yellow wellington boats when he set off to go fishing.
He was popular in the local area and was also chairman of the Applecross Community Council.
