Fraserburgh FC’s Bellslea Park has fallen victim to the elements and failed an inspection, postponing the club’s massive Scottish Cup fixture against Rangers.
As concerns grew about the condition of the turf following freezing temperatures, a pitch inspection was brought forward from 5pm today to noon.
SFA officials have now looked over it and deemed that the surface would be unplayable tomorrow.
This was despite the community rallying round and using heaters in an attempt to thaw the ground overnight.
The match has now been rescheduled for Wednesday January 31, with a kick-off time of 7.45pm.
Cup fever had reached epic proportions in the north-east town this week, with around 1,800 football fans expected to turn out for the fourth round cup tie.
Businesses in the town were getting ready for the hundreds of families expected for pre and post-game snacks and entertainment, decorating their premises in Fraserburgh’s black and white colours.
